Key Responsibilities

  • •Own end-to-end Level 2 kernel certification, ensuring EMVCo type approval and contact/contactless specifications across card schemes and payment methods.
  • •Serve as the connector between the external certification lab and engineering teams, translating test outputs into engineer-ready findings.
  • •Investigate failed tests at the APDU and transaction-flow level, identify root causes, and guide kernel developers to fixes.
  • •Manage the certification calendar and timelines to meet hard external dates, including delta certifications from kernel changes or expiring approvals.
  • •Work collaboratively with labs and payment schemes by clarifying requirements and handling technical interactions such as waivers when needed.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 2 years of hands-on experience performing Level 2 certifications for contact and contactless kernels.
  • •Strong EMV knowledge at the kernel level, including EMVCo contact/contactless specifications, terminal application flow, CVM processing, and cryptogram generation.
  • •Experience using EMV test tooling and card simulators, with the ability to read APDU traces to diagnose failures.
  • •Ability to communicate certification failures clearly to engineers and coordinate effectively with external labs and payment schemes.
