Job Summary

Manage day-to-day engine room operations and support the Chief Engineer to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted dredging onboard. Supervise engine room personnel, plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance using the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues. Oversee dredging equipment operation, maintain engineering logs and records, and ensure compliance with ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, and class/flag-state requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Supervise daily operation and maintenance of main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery.
•Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance according to the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
•Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults onboard.
•Oversee maintenance and operation of dredging equipment including dredge pumps, winches, hydraulic systems, and pipelines.
•Maintain engine room logs and records; assist the Chief Engineer during dry docking and audits; ensure compliance with ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, Class, and Flag State requirements.

Key Requirements

•Certificate of Competency (COC) as 2nd Engineer.
•5 years’ experience onboard dredgers.
•Ability to plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance under a Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
•Competence in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults onboard.
•Knowledge of vessel compliance requirements including ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, Class, and Flag State.
