Job Summary

Drive safer workplaces and environmental compliance by supporting EHS programs, maintaining the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS), and helping ensure adherence to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Own EHS KPI collection and analysis, support workers’ compensation cost reduction, and help with incident investigations and corrective actions. Assist with training on OSHA, environmental regulations, SOPs, and emergency response while coaching and developing others.

Key Responsibilities

•Support site safety and environmental programs to align with regulatory, compliance, and company standards, including maintaining EMS and SIPS and supporting ISO 14001/45001 certification efforts.
•Collect and analyze EHS Key Performance Indicators (OSHA/environmental violations, incident rates, turnover, workers’ compensation claims) and support strategies to reduce workers’ compensation costs, absenteeism, and turnover.
•Ensure required regulatory and company EHS training is delivered, and may train production employees and management on OSHA, environmental regulations, SOPs, and emergency response.
•Help ensure thorough incident investigations are completed, identify and implement corrective actions, and support employee exposure surveys as needed.
•Provide leadership through employee development and coaching to drive a positive employee experience.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety (or related field) and 3+ years relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff, or managing a process or project.
•Ability to handle multiple assignments, set goals, and complete commitments on schedule.
•Comfort working long hours, weekends, and being on-call when required.
•Ability to make strategic decisions during stressful situations, including leading emergency response efforts.
