Job Summary

Lead the scientific design of a mangrove blue carbon dMRV framework for a climate-tech platform. Evaluate and recommend carbon standards, build MRV methodology and carbon accounting logic (including QA/QC, uncertainty, leakage, and credit issuance), and define biodiversity safeguards. Produce implementation-ready technical documentation and specifications, and collaborate closely with ecology, AI, engineering, and product teams to translate science into AI models and software.

Key Responsibilities

•Evaluate and compare blue carbon methodologies and standards (e.g., Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and recommend the optimal approach for the platform.
•Design a complete mangrove blue carbon MRV framework, including carbon pools, boundaries, sampling, protocols, monitoring frequency, and QA/QC.
•Develop implementation-ready carbon accounting and calculation methodologies, including equations, baselines, uncertainty, leakage, buffers, and credit issuance logic.
•Define co-benefits and safeguards, including biodiversity monitoring requirements and frameworks such as FPIC and grievance mechanisms.
•Produce technical documentation and specifications suitable for direct software implementation and collaborate with ecology, AI, engineering, and product teams.

Key Requirements

•Advanced degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, Marine Science, Carbon Accounting, Climate Science, or related fields.
•Demonstrated experience developing, validating, or auditing blue carbon or nature-based carbon projects.
•Proven experience delivering at least one validated carbon project within the GCC.
•Deep expertise in mangrove ecology, biomass estimation, soil organic carbon, hydrology, and blue carbon science.
•Strong knowledge of voluntary carbon market methodologies, registry requirements, and MRV systems for greenhouse gas accounting.
