Job Summary

Shape the technical direction of Kpler’s Supply & Demand platform as it expands from crude oil to all commodities. You’ll generalize the S&D data model, evolve a reusable ETL framework, and raise non-functional standards for reliability, latency, observability, security, and cost. Own end-to-end publication reliability (including ML guardrails, release paths, and data-quality gates), lead API contract evolution, and mentor engineers while partnering with Product and Research on the roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the technical direction for generalising the S&D data model across commodities, managing trade-offs between design, reliability, and time-to-market.
•Evolve the shared ETL framework in supply-demand-core into a reusable foundation across commodity verticals.
•Own publication reliability end to end, including anomaly-detection guardrails, release paths, and data-quality gating for customer readiness.
•Set and raise non-functional standards (reliability, latency, observability, security, cost) across the Python engine, TypeScript APIs, and Airflow orchestration.
•Shape and evolve external/webapp data-distribution API contracts and mentor engineers while partnering with Product and Research on the roadmap.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience as a software engineer delivering production systems.
•Experience delivering technically ambiguous, business-critical projects end to end with ownership of design and production outcomes.
•Deep experience building and running data-intensive backends in Python, including ETL/orchestration and relational data modeling with SQL/Postgres.
•Owning systems in production, including on-call, observability, incident response, and prevention work.
•Experience setting technical direction for a team and consulting on hard design decisions.
