Key Responsibilities

  • •Determine and lead agent research initiatives aligned with frontier LLM/agent research and Canva product goals.
  • •Create novel agent capabilities through post-training and RL, including reward modeling, synthetic data, and environment design.
  • •Design and build an agent harness to execute complex, long-horizon tasks reliably in production and explore self-improvement techniques.
  • •Develop rigorous benchmarks and evaluation methods for agent correctness, safety, robustness, and real-world task success.
  • •Partner closely with engineering, product, design, and data teams to land frontier research capabilities in real Canva product experiences.

Key Requirements

  • •Hands-on experience developing and iterating on LLM-based agents or foundation models, including post-training, RL, reward modeling, synthetic data, or agent environment design.
  • •Strong academic and professional track record, including peer-reviewed publications at top venues and/or impactful open-source contributions.
  • •Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
  • •Familiarity with frameworks and libraries such as Transformers, DeepSpeed, Megatron, and agent/RL frameworks.
  • •Knowledge of cloud computing platforms for efficient training and deployment, plus curiosity to track AI literature and emerging technologies.
