Job Summary

Provide inspection, sampling, and testing for ready-mix concrete and aggregate quality at plant and DOT job sites across the greater Austin area. Ensure mix designs meet contract specifications by monitoring mix design components, performing physical tests, and spot-checking materials at delivery. Maintain accurate test records and QA/QC databases, keep laboratory equipment up to date, and help drive compliance with DOT, OSHA/MSHA, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote safety, contribute to safe department operations, and maintain a safe, clean work area.
•Use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test materials for quality control; follow assigned QC plans and guidelines.
•Sample and test concrete and aggregates, including physical tests (e.g., slump, entrained air, unit weight, compressive strength; gradations, sand equivalency, specific gravity, density, absorption).
•Ensure proper mix design, scale weights, and water demand at batch plants and make delivery adjustments as needed.
•Prepare and record accurate information, maintain test results databases and daily logs, and maintain laboratory equipment and related certification paperwork.

Key Requirements

•Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
•ACI Field Grade I Testing Technician certification.
•ACI Aggregate or Laboratory Certification; NRMCA Certification is a plus.
•Experience collecting, testing, and reporting concrete and/or aggregate samples.
•Must obtain and maintain DOT certifications required to test concrete as required by state regulations.
