Lead the evolution of a next-generation event streaming platform that powers Attentive’s real-time messaging and personalization ecosystem. Set technical direction for streaming architecture, modernize the platform, and build the primitives and developer tooling (observability, debugging, load testing) that help product and data teams move faster. Tackle high-throughput distributed systems challenges while improving reliability, debuggability, and long-term operational confidence.

Key Responsibilities

•Architect and evolve a next-generation event streaming platform, designing high-throughput, low-latency, cost-efficient solutions for mission-critical use cases.
•Enhance streaming developer experience by building self-serve tools for event observability, debugging, load testing, and system configuration.
•Simplify and modernize streaming architecture by removing unnecessary abstraction layers and enabling both “paved path” and advanced use cases.
•Develop primitives for reliable stream processing such as rate limiting, deduping, and delayed message delivery.
•Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to launch customer-facing features and scalable integrations built on streaming infrastructure.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 180,000 - 250,000 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years architecting and supporting high-throughput distributed systems at scale, especially event streaming or messaging platforms.
•Strong expertise in distributed streaming technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Pulsar, and/or Spark.
•Proven track record leading major platform/architectural initiatives across multiple teams (modernization, migration, simplification, or new infrastructure patterns).
•Deep experience designing for scale, reliability, debuggability, and efficiency in production, including complex failure scenarios.
•Strong proficiency in Java and backend systems design across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
