Key Responsibilities

  • •Observe hens for egg-laying, place eggs in nests, mark eggs by hen number, collect and identify eggs, and record eggs laid per flock.
  • •Provide daily flock care by calculating and recording feed amounts, weighing feed and birds, distributing feed, and collecting weekly lab samples via boot swabs and swabs.
  • •Monitor flock for signs of injury or illness and report to the lead/manager.
  • •Maintain flock environment by flushing water lines weekly, maintaining pen bedding and nests to animal welfare standards, and clearing dust from equipment.
  • •Maintain housekeeping and support tasks as assigned, including operating hose/pans/sanitizer and keeping the work area clean and organized.

Key Requirements

  • •Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • •If laid off or providing child/elder care, the employment gap allowance increases to 18 months; full-time student history for 36 months does not count as previous work history.
  • •Must be willing to shower, change clothing and footwear before entering the facility, and comply with biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines.
  • •Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • •Must be able to perform physical requirements, including lifting egg flats up to 12 pounds and pulling/pushing crates of eggs up to 60 pounds.
