Key Responsibilities

  • •Run catastrophe modeling software to analyze client, industry, and notional portfolios for evaluation of licensed catastrophe models.
  • •Support model validation activities including sensitivity testing, scenario analysis, and back-testing against historical events and claims.
  • •Analyze large exposure, hazard, and loss datasets to identify key drivers of catastrophe losses and differences between models.
  • •Validate catastrophe model components using claims data and public data sources (e.g., NOAA, USGS, USFS).
  • •Communicate results by translating technical findings into insights, visualizations, and reports for stakeholders and clients.

Key Requirements

  • •At least a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Structural/Civil Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Earth/Environmental Science, or another technical/analytical discipline.
  • •5+ years of relevant experience with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • •Demonstrated experience handling large datasets and building/performing advanced statistical or engineering analyses.
  • •Proficiency in at least one of: Python, R, SQL, MATLAB (or similar scientific computing languages).
  • •Some familiarity with catastrophe models and insurance/reinsurance concepts, plus strong verbal and written communication.
