Job Summary

Design and optimize Terminal’s data platform that powers a unified API, from streaming and storage to analytics. Build scalable streaming and batch pipelines, storage systems for petabytes of time-series data, and high-availability infrastructure for enterprise customers. Partner with engineering teams and customers to set architecture direction, improve data quality and lineage, and contribute AI-powered tooling that helps the platform improve itself. Work day to day in Java and Python.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and build streaming and batch pipelines (replication, analytics, enrichment) that feed the product and API.
•Build storage systems that scale to petabytes of time-series data while staying fast under load.
•Improve platform primitives such as data quality, lineage, stream/batch processing, and high-availability infrastructure.
•Shape platform architecture and how the team builds, including AI-powered tooling to improve the platform.
•Work day to day across data and backend systems in Java and Python; contribute to open source when relevant.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 250,000 annually

•Built and owned production platforms or distributed systems at real scale without being managed.
•Deep experience designing streaming or batch systems that remain correct and fast as data grows from TB to PB.

•Depth in distributed systems, including anticipating failure modes and designing for them up front.
•Strong Java or JVM-language experience (or confident to pick it up quickly).
