Job Summary

Lead transportation roadway design for projects in Novi and beyond, including geometric design, roadway plan preparation, and development of PS&E deliverables. Prepare design reports and technical memorandums, calculate quantities and estimates, and produce construction cost and technical effort estimates. Coordinate with clients, the public, utilities, and permitting agencies, perform quality control on calculations/drawings, and may serve as a technical advisor to support the team.

•Perform geometric roadway design, including horizontal and vertical alignments and models.
•Prepare design reports and technical memorandums and develop roadway plans aligned with MDOT or local standards.
•Coordinate with project stakeholders including clients, the public, utility companies, and permitting agencies.
•Calculate quantities and estimates for MDOT and local transportation projects, including construction cost and technical effort estimates.
•Provide quality control review of design calculations/drawings and prepare technical specification sections as part of the PS&E package.

Key Requirements

•BA/BS plus 6 years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education).
•4+ years of roadway design experience on transportation projects, including schematic development and/or PS&E preparation.
•Professional Engineering (PE) license.
•Experience designing highway/roadway systems and developing schematic development and roadway design work.
•Experience with design software including Bentley Open Roads and familiarity with MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Project).
