Job Summary

Design and deliver high-performance distributed systems for Dell’s Data Protection portfolio, powering cyber resiliency, data protection, and data availability across on-premises and hybrid/public cloud environments. Independently drive complex feature development from concept through production support, lead design and code reviews, define service contracts and API standards, and improve reliability, observability, automation, scalability, and developer productivity. Key Responsibilities

•Lead design and development of highly performant distributed services supporting Dell’s Data Protection portfolio, including design and code reviews and promoting engineering excellence.
•Drive complex features and projects end-to-end (concept through deployment and production support), defining service contracts, API standards, scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence practices.
•Partner with architects and product management to translate business objectives into technical solutions and engineering roadmaps; improve reliability, observability, automation, performance, and developer productivity.
•Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across multiple services, environments, and technology stacks, applying AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices and intelligent automation.
•Act as a technical leader and owner; mentor and coach junior engineers to raise technical capability and delivery effectiveness across the team.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 161,920 - 222,000

Key Requirements

•7+ years of software development experience, with strong expertise in C/C++ (also Java or Golang) for data path and/or control path services development.
•Build and operate large-scale control path or data path services and distributed systems, with a track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching.
•Strong understanding of virtualized and containerized workloads, including debugging, performance optimization, root-cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
•Expertise with virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, OpenStack, and Kubernetes ecosystems, plus experience with CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and software delivery automation.
•Ability to independently drive complex engineering initiatives with proficiency using AI-assisted engineering tools, and strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
