Job Summary

Own day-to-day LP transfer legal delivery for limited partner interests across multiple client accounts. You’ll supervise and mentor paralegals, serve as the primary point of contact for clients and counterparties, coordinate KYC/AML and transfer documentation through signing and post-closing actions, and evolve client playbooks and negotiation parameters. Work closely with the Legal Director, contribute to client pitches with Growth, and partner with technology to improve AI-driven legal delivery tools and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

•Supervise and mentor paralegals through complex LP transfer processes, ensuring documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with client playbooks and SLAs.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and counterparties, coordinating KYC/AML, transfer documentation, signing, and post-closing actions.
•Own and evolve client playbooks and negotiation parameters, escalating material issues to the Legal Director while maintaining deal momentum.
•Build and deepen trusted client relationships and position Carta as the go-to partner for LP transfer work.
•Support business development by contributing to new client pitches alongside the Growth team and partner with technology to improve AI-driven legal delivery tools and workflows.

Key Requirements

•Experienced in funds law with a strong background in LP transfers, closed-ended funds, or private markets work, and able to independently manage complex transfer processes.
•Qualified in England & Wales (or a comparable jurisdiction) and able to independently handle LP transfer documentation and workflows.
•5+ years of relevant experience recommended for the role.
•Client-focused and commercially minded, with clear communication under pressure with sophisticated asset manager and investment fund clients.
•A natural leader/mentor comfortable supervising and developing junior lawyers and paralegals while managing multiple simultaneous workflows.
