Job Summary

Deliver biodiversity net gain (BNG) assessments for infrastructure and development projects across the UK, producing and technically reviewing biodiversity reports such as BNG feasibility/design outputs and Habitat Management Plans. Support consultation with clients and planning stakeholders, help develop the team’s BNG vision and technical capabilities, and assist with upskilling ecologists and bids/tenders. Work within AECOM’s Nature business alongside ecologists, data and digital teams to advance digital biodiversity tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver ecological BNG inputs for internal and external clients.
•Produce and technically review biodiversity assessments, including BNG feasibility/design stage reports, Habitat Management Plans, and Welsh NBB assessments.
•Work with the BNG lead to develop the BNG Vision as biodiversity needs evolve across the UK.
•Assist with training to upskill ecologists and support consultation/engagement with planning authorities, statutory bodies, and the public.
•Support bids and tenders and help develop technical capabilities, including digital biodiversity tools with digital and data teams.

Key Requirements

•Degree (or equivalent) in ecology (or associated subject) and membership of an appropriate professional institution (such as CIEEM).
•Excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policy.
•Experience delivering biodiversity assessments (demonstrated through professional experience).
•Experience interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments.
•Experience reviewing technical work, supporting wider team members, and bidding/tendering.
