Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multidisciplinary teams, establishing scope and interfaces and ensuring coordinated delivery.
  • •Direct technical delivery of HV substation major projects, aligning engineering approach, monitoring progress, and quality-checking deliverables before client issue.
  • •Apply lifecycle expertise across grid connection studies, concept design, FEED, and detailed design to deliver HV substation schemes.
  • •Liaise with project management teams to develop resourcing forecasts, programmes, and align plans to construction schedules and critical path milestones.
  • •Mentor and develop junior engineers, building team capability in HV substation design over the medium and long term.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience in consultancy, contractor, or utility roles in the energy sector, with client experience across UK or Ireland transmission utilities/developers.
  • •Proven delivery of HV infrastructure design across concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
  • •Strong knowledge of electrical AC HV plant and equipment, including AIS/GIS switchgear, busbars, cabling, earthing, and civil interfaces.
  • •Working knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications.
  • •Proposal and bid development experience, including leading multi-discipline submissions for data centre, HV infrastructure, or grid connection projects.
