Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform field reconnaissance and geological mapping to identify hazards such as landslides, subsidence, soil liquefaction, and unstable slopes.
  • •Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations and develop geological models, cross-sections, and maps to support transportation design and construction.
  • •Analyze geotechnical conditions and prepare detailed technical risk assessments and geologic reports.
  • •Oversee fieldwork logistics and supervise drilling operations, test pits, groundwater instrumentation, probe hole drilling, and permeability testing, including instrumentation monitoring.
  • •Support construction monitoring and communicate findings to stakeholders, including NJDOT representatives, project managers, and regulatory agencies.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus), or a related field plus six years of related experience.
  • •Perform geotechnical engineering services for transportation infrastructure projects including tunnels, highways, bridges, and transit-related developments.
  • •Hold a Valid US Drivers License.
  • •Use computer software programs such as Dips, RocSlope, RocFall, and Swedge.
  • •Preferred: Master’s degree and 8 years of geotechnical experience with underground structures, plus a Valid New York State Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist license.
