Key Responsibilities

•Own the overall roadmap and execution for the Flink Control Plane, defining strategy for job orchestration and serverless resource management
•Lead the migration of the control plane onto the latest platform foundations and drive major component refactors for reliability, security, and scale
•Collaborate with engineering teams and product management on product definition, architectural design, and delivery to improve platform health and operational hygiene
•Drive scale and performance to support 10x growth in compute pools, statements, and tenants per region while minimizing hotspots in metadata and orchestration layers
•Mentor and develop junior and mid-level developers toward Staff-level leadership and foster cross-team collaboration across Confluent Cloud

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 271,500 - 319,000 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years in software development with at least 5+ years in engineering management
•Deep knowledge of distributed systems orchestration (Kubernetes operators, controller patterns, declarative API servers) and multi-tenant resource isolation
•Experience scaling control planes for managed cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, Elastic, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
•Proven track record of hiring and managing performance during complex technical transitions
•Strong focus on operational excellence and reliability, with data-driven communication skills
