Key Responsibilities

•Lead and manage the acquisition and maintenance of licenses, permits, and authorizations related to energetic materials (e.g., ATF, DoD, state fire marshal).
•Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all energetic materials safety matters with regulatory bodies (e.g., ATF, DoD Explosives Safety Board, State Fire Marshal, OSHA, EPA).
•Establish and maintain adherence to waste management protocols for hazardous and energetic waste, ensuring compliant disposal and demilitarization processes.
•Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive explosives safety plans, operating procedures, safety cases, hazard classifications, and quantity distance (QD) calculations for facilities, operations, and test activities.
•Conduct and document regular and specialized explosives safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments of facilities, equipment, and operations.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 99,000 - 131,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
•5+ years of progressive experience in explosives safety engineering, process safety, or a related role within a manufacturing, R&D, or test environment involving energetic materials
•Must be able to pass an ATF background check
•Demonstrated expertise in conducting explosives safety audits, inspections, hazard classifications, and quantity distance (QD) assessments
•Deep and current knowledge of federal explosives safety regulations (e.g., ATF, DoD 6055.09-M, AFMAN 91-201, DA PAM 385-64, NAVSEA OP 5), NFPA codes, and industry best practices for energetic materials
