Key Responsibilities

  • •Support the delivery of electrical design through power system studies and grid code compliance assessments.
  • •Undertake detailed power system studies using PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/E to evaluate compliance.
  • •Perform grid connection due diligence, including grid prospecting, connection optioneering, risk assessment, and capacity/constraints assessment.
  • •Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates, and support quality control reviews of calculations/drawings.
  • •Prepare technical specification sections and provide input to engineering budget and schedule; liaise with OEMs/clients and support bids/proposals.

Key Requirements

  • •Proven experience with an engineering design consultancy, OEM, or utility network planning/connection environment.
  • •Strong understanding of transmission/distribution planning and customer connection processes for regulated and industrial networks.
  • •Knowledge of UK grid connection technical requirements (UK Grid Code, G99, G5/5, P28) and guidelines for connecting new generators/loads (Ireland Grid Code is beneficial).
  • •Proficiency in PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Python scripting; prior use of PSSE and ETAP is desirable.
  • •Understanding of control and protection principles for high-voltage substation equipment and related system components, plus exceptional written and oral communication.
