Key Responsibilities

  • •Define and evolve MongoDB’s category strategy, setting MongoDB’s position within relevant categories and keeping it current as the market and product portfolio change.
  • •Author and maintain positioning in the PAC system, managing collaboration and approval cycles with senior leadership and running governance processes to keep positioning timely.
  • •Validate category claims using data and internal/external stakeholders by pressure-testing against competitors, analysts, and skeptical customers.
  • •Build reusable positioning frameworks/models for PNA shared methods, avoiding duplication across deliverables.
  • •Represent PNA in executive briefings, analyst conversations, and flagship event narratives, including launch-readiness judgment calls for new products and capabilities.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years in positioning, category creation, or narrative strategy in enterprise software, ideally databases, cloud infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, or AI-native startups.
  • •Experience building and/or defending a category position against competitors, including naming counterarguments before they’re made.
  • •Ability to operate with multi-year thinking, manage executive sign-offs, and defend long-term positioning vs short-term thinking.
  • •Built reusable frameworks or models that other strategists and marketers adopted.
  • •Comfort working with AI and agents inside a governed, versioned system, thinking in terms of lineage and automated approval gates.
