Job Summary

Set up and operate CNC multi-axis drilling and milling equipment to machine parts to close tolerances for aircraft components. Perform inspections for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and interchangeability using precision measurement tools, dial indicators, and blueprints. Make intermediate setup changes, select and hone cutting tools, and monitor operations for malfunctions while maintaining good shop practices on the 3rd shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

•Inspect machined parts, aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and installations for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and interchangeability.
•Set up and operate numerically controlled multi-axis drilling machines and perform machining operations within equipment capacity.
•Mount and align fixtures/targets, load control units, make required control settings, and position parts for drilling and milling.
•Select and hone cutting tools/cutters to specifications, verify cutter accuracy, and perform periodic dimensional checks to support cutter change cycles.
•Machine close-tolerance conventional milling operations and work from blueprints/sketches; check conformance and notify supervision of malfunctions.

Key Requirements

•Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
•Experience setting up and operating various types of CNC milling machines.
•Experience performing measurements with precision measurement tools, such as gauges, micrometers and calipers.
•Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and manufacturing outline sheets.
•Preferred: Experience with G&M codes and macro programming/editing process.
