Job Summary

Provide precise, commercial, timely legal advice and support legal risk management for Wood’s operations in Italy and across the UK & Europe, Middle East, Africa, CIS, and APAC. Handle a broad range of matters including litigation/disputes, EPC/EPCm contract support, M&A/joint ventures, employment and compliance. Manage external legal service providers, budgets, and matter/cost tracking while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in a highly international team.

•Deliver precise, commercial, timely and cost-effective legal advice, governance and compliance for matters with legal or reputational impact.
•Support legal needs in Italy and relevant regions, performing research, counsel and guidance and communicating outcomes effectively.
•Handle disputes and litigation support, working with outside counsel to develop claims/defence and supervising external counsel as needed.
•Manage matter and cost controls, including maintaining databases, anticipating legal risk and developing mitigation strategies.
•Oversee legal risk and compliance, and project-manage strategic transactions (M&A/JVs) and vendor relationships.

Key Requirements

•5 to 8 years post-qualification experience in-house or in private practice.
•Strong commercial acumen and highly developed legal and analytical skills.
•Ability to interpret, structure, and communicate legal advice clearly with sound issue-spotting and risk-based judgement.
•Experience with commercial contracting concepts (scope, risk allocation, indemnities, limitation of liability, variations/claims, termination, dispute resolution).
•Understanding of disputes and claim progression (pre-action, ADR, arbitration/litigation) and confidentiality in sensitive matters.
