Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multi-disciplinary teams, defining scopes and interfaces for coordinated delivery.
  • •Direct technical delivery of major substation design projects by aligning approach with engineering teams and quality-checking deliverables before client issue.
  • •Drive lifecycle design expertise from grid connection studies and concept design through FEED and detailed design to deliver HV substation schemes.
  • •Collaborate with project management on resourcing forecasts and programmes aligned to construction schedules and critical milestones.
  • •Mentor and develop junior engineers while championing safety in design principles and compliance with relevant operational standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience with consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector, including client experience with UK/IE transmission utilities or developers.
  • •Proven delivery of HV infrastructure design across concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
  • •Strong understanding of electrical AC HV plant and equipment, including AIS and GIS components (switchgear, busbars, cabling, earthing, and civil interfaces).
  • •Working knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications.
  • •Proposal and bid development experience, including leading multi-discipline submissions for data centre, HV infrastructure, or grid connection projects.
