Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate production MongoDB clusters in Kubernetes across multiple regions and clouds, monitoring health and proactively addressing degradation.
  • •Debug and resolve availability, latency, and data consistency issues in partnership with SREs, including on-call rotations as a MongoDB SME.
  • •Automate routine operations such as database user management, cluster scaling, version upgrades, and backup restores; maintain MongoDB observability and access-control tooling.
  • •Implement and maintain point-in-time recovery, snapshots, cross-region backup strategies, and validate restores; support resilience and disaster recovery planning with Security/Compliance.
  • •Partner with engineering on schema design, indexing, performance tuning, shard key design, and document runbooks and operational standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Proven production experience managing MongoDB at scale, including replica sets, sharding, WiredTiger, oplogs, and journaling.
  • •Experience operating MongoDB in cloud or containerized environments (Kubernetes preferred).
  • •Strong automation and scripting skills using Bash, Python, or Go to run and maintain database operations.
  • •Proficiency with MongoDB CLI tooling and APIs for Atlas, plus backup/restore tools such as mongodump, mongorestore, mongosh, and Ops Manager.
  • •Familiarity with observability/alerting (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) and GitOps/infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD).
