Job Summary

Own autonomy/perception integration between software and the flight test enterprise. Coordinate software–hardware integration across unmanned and manned aircraft platforms, drive EO/IR and A-PNT sensor selection, and manage the fly-fix-fly loop by deploying the Hivemind Pilot stack, defining test objectives, executing field tests, and analyzing results for pass/fail decisions. Establish calibration, time sync, and data quality workflows for field-collected sensor datasets.

Key Responsibilities

•Coordinate software and hardware integration activities to enable autonomy deployment and testing across platforms including small UAS and fixed-wing aircraft.
•Drive sensor selection for EO/IR and A-PNT perception software testing; support flight test engineers with sensor bring-up, characterization, calibration, and maintenance.
•Own the fly-fix-fly cycle: integrate the Hivemind Pilot stack onto target hardware, define test objectives, help execute field tests, and analyze data for pass/fail status.
•Own sensor calibration and time synchronization processes for A-PNT and perception sensors, including camera intrinsic/extrinsic calibration and camera-IMU temporal alignment.
•Establish data quality standards and data management processes for field-collected sensor data to enable offline analysis and algorithm development.
•Resolve technical and logistical ambiguities between software development and flight test operations to keep perception maturation moving forward.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 230,000 - 350,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 9 years with a Master’s degree; or 7 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
•Hands-on experience calibrating and time-aligning EO/IR and position, navigation, and timing (PNT) sensors, including both COTS and military-grade hardware.
•Comfort operating at the intersection of hardware, software, and flight operations in fast-paced field testing environments.
•Experience in design of experiments, flight test card development, and establishing verifiable, measurable test objectives.
•Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization; comfort reading and making targeted modifications to algorithms implemented in C++.
•Demonstrated academic training or professional experience in core perception disciplines such as object detection, object tracking, SLAM, or navigation (preferably defense or aerospace context).
