Job Summary

Build and own data-intensive, high-performance streaming infrastructure for Okta’s Data Platform team. Design and deploy systems that power analytics and machine learning, partnering across engineering to deliver foundational data services that scale for years. Work with technologies such as Kinesis, Flink, Elasticsearch, and Snowflake, lead design/code/performance reviews, mentor engineers, and debug production issues across a distributed stack.

•Partner with engineering teams, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders on project development, design, and implementation.
•Conduct and participate in design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning.
•Coach and mentor engineers to help scale the engineering organization.
•Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.

Key Requirements

•8+ years of experience in object-oriented language, preferably Java.
•Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed computing, including messaging (Kinesis, Kafka) and data processing (Flink, Spark, Beam).
•Experience with storage/compute systems such as Snowflake and Hadoop, and coordinators/schedulers such as Kubernetes, Hadoop, and Mesos.
•Proven ability to develop and tune highly scalable distributed systems.
•Solid grasp of multithreading, garbage collection, memory management, and reliability engineering (data quality, observability, incident management).
