Key Responsibilities

  • •Support the phased implementation of the Public Health Laboratory Recognition Programme, including planning and facilitating regional webinars, country orientation sessions, and technical consultations.
  • •Plan and deliver a training-of-trainers workshop to build a cohort of qualified experts to conduct laboratory assessments and improvement planning.
  • •Coordinate and participate in in-country technical missions to support laboratory self-assessments, identify priority gaps, and develop corrective action and quality-improvement plans.
  • •Assess the capacity, functions, and operational readiness of antimicrobial resistance national reference laboratories and provide hands-on mentoring and remote technical support to address identified gaps.
  • •Support development/adaptation of standardized laboratory protocols/SOPs and help strengthen AMR laboratory network coordination mechanisms, including referral pathways and reporting flows.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 8,000 monthly

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum university degree in laboratory medicine/sciences, microbiology, pathology, molecular biology, virology, bacteriology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, public health and/or global health.
  • •Minimum five years’ relevant experience in laboratory diagnostics or related work in public health, clinical, or research laboratories.
  • •Proven knowledge and skills in public health laboratory preparedness for infectious hazards, including emerging and re-emerging disease threats.
  • •Strong managerial, monitoring and evaluation, and organizational skills, including ability to negotiate with national and international authorities and partners.
  • •Expert-level English and strong writing and communication skills for reports, presentations, proposals, and concept notes.
