Job Summary

Support town planning and consenting inputs for major, nationally significant UK infrastructure projects across energy, renewables, nuclear, net zero, water, rail, transport, and aviation. Prepare Town & Country Planning Act applications, provide technical advice to project managers, and help deliver consent outcomes by engaging statutory bodies and stakeholders. Join WSP’s Infrastructure Planning team to contribute across the consenting process from feasibility through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Help prepare Town & Country Planning Act applications for UK infrastructure projects.
•Provide consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (e.g., DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs).
•Assist with providing technical advice to project managers to support client requirements.
•Support liaison with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients to help deliver projects.
•Engage with teams across disciplines and contribute to building internal knowledge and skills.

Key Requirements

•Degree-level qualification in town planning (or equivalent).
•Member of (or eligible for) the RTPI.
•Demonstrable experience supporting town planning and consenting inputs on major or nationally significant infrastructure projects.
•Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams to secure consent and approvals.
•Experience securing consents using relevant legislation (e.g., Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008, Transport and Works Act Order).
