Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the delivery of the MCA and other awarding body approved Nautical curriculum, courses, and training provisioning targets.
  • •Manage and develop curricula teams, inspiring direct reports to embed blended learning and drive creative, student-focused pedagogy.
  • •Maintain curriculum approvals, develop and support quality and safety management systems (including QMS and PSMS) and ensure course compliance and accessibility.
  • •Oversee student success and learning outcomes: continuous improvement, recruitment/retention targets, student disciplinary processes, and records integrity.
  • •Manage and lead course and assessment activities including Ship Simulator operations support, SQA/MCA written and MCA oral exam preparation, TRB advising/sign-off, and delivery of deck, ship-handling, polar code, and STCW short courses.

Key Requirements

  • •Class 1 Master Mariner issued by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) (or an IMO Whitelist country acceptable to the MCA as an equivalent).
  • •Operational management experience in curriculum delivery, including development, deployment, and leadership of training staff.
  • •Experience planning, developing, approving, and delivering MCA approved Nautical Science core curriculum aligned to STCW.
  • •Significant experience planning, developing, approving, and delivering MCA approved STCW short courses.
  • •Strong ICT skills and the ability to provide management-level reporting, with excellent written and verbal communication.
