Job Summary

Join the team supporting the Hydro-METOC Information Environment (HMIE) at the Australian Hydrographic Office. You’ll analyze, design, develop, unit test, and maintain mission-critical software, investigate incidents and change requests, and work with stakeholders to diagnose root causes and implement improvements. The role also includes integration testing support, documentation, code/design reviews, deployment assistance, and occasional after-hours system checks to ensure HMIE reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze, design, develop, maintain, and unit test software applications and systems.
•Investigate, estimate, rectify, and resolve assigned incidents and Change Requests (CRs) within agreed timeframes.
•Work with AHO stakeholders to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
•Identify opportunities to improve HMIE performance, maintenance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
•Participate in documentation, design/code reviews, technical audits, and integration/testing activities; support deployments and system checks as required.

Key Requirements

•Tertiary qualification in technology, engineering or similar.
•Commercial experience in C# and Java development.
•Experience developing software and collaborating using tools including Visual Studio, Jira, SourceTree, Confluence, Bitbucket, FishEye, and Crucible.
•Strong understanding of software design patterns and best-practice development methodologies, including unit test development and maintenance.
•Database experience is advantageous, particularly Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
