Job Summary

Seeking an Application Software Engineer to join the R&D team in Lausanne, Switzerland. You will be a founding member of a new team building the ground control station software that underpins Harmattan AI’s autonomy stack. You’ll design and ship industrial-grade GCS features, integrate with drone hardware, and contribute to agile development while mentoring junior engineers as the team grows.

Job Function: Software Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Develop Core GCS Features: Design and ship features at the heart of piloting — flight planning, airspace awareness, live video — with emphasis on operator UX and technical correctness.
•Systems Integration: Work with the Autopilot team to ensure seamless communication between GCS code and drone hardware.
•Agile Execution: Participate in two-week sprints to deliver high-priority features defined by product.
•Software Excellence: Own code from architectural design through rigorous testing and maintenance to deliver industrial-grade software.
•Mentorship (Senior Profiles): For candidates with ~10 years of experience, provide guidance and mentorship as the team grows.

Key Requirements

•Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics is preferred.
•Proven Software Architecture Skills: track record of designing and delivering complex, production-quality software systems; Linux-based stack with Android experience is of interest.
•Fluency with Modern Application Frameworks: hands-on experience with Dart/Flutter or C++/Qt/QML; ability to build cross-platform applications.
•Industry Experience: direct experience developing ground control stations at a drone company is a significant advantage.
•Adaptability & Autonomy: ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; proactivity.
