Job Summary

Design, develop, test, and operate enterprise backend software within Mastercard’s Real-time Payments program, applying microservices, event-driven messaging, and REST APIs. Deliver features with production readiness, collaborate with product, QA, and operations, and continuously improve reliability, observability, and security of critical financial systems.

Job Function: Software Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Design and implement software components and services based on defined requirements and architectures, applying patterns such as microservices, event-driven messaging, and REST APIs; deliver end-to-end features including development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
•Write clean, efficient, and testable code; develop and maintain automated tests; participate in code reviews and resolve defects, performance, and reliability issues while following secure coding practices.
•Build software with operational concerns in mind, including observability, logging, metrics, alerts, and production readiness checks; support on-call rotations and incident resolution.
•Collaborate with Product Managers, QA, and DevOps to ensure quality and smooth releases; mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
•Identify and drive continuous improvement in performance, reliability, maintainability, and reduction of technical debt; expand knowledge of RTP platforms and Mastercard technologies; adhere to Mastercard SDLC and security practices.

Key Requirements

•5–8 years of professional software engineering experience
•Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise backend systems
•Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals
•Strong experience with Java/Spring or comparable backend technologies
•Experience with APIs, messaging systems, and data persistence; familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control; exposure to cloud or containerized environments
