Own and advance the PCHE (printed circuit heat exchanger) manufacturing process—from process development and prototyping through repeatable, qualified high-rate production. Serve as the technical authority for PCHE floor processes, driving diffusion bonding parameter qualification, supplier onboarding for special steps, and nuclear-grade documentation. Lead validation and production readiness using experiments, coupon testing, metallography, inspection strategies, SPC/control plans, and root-cause corrective actions to ensure pressure-boundary hardware quality.

Key Responsibilities

•Own PCHE production process development across plate fabrication, cleaning/surface prep, stack-up, diffusion bonding, machining, joining, and inspection.
•Develop and qualify diffusion bonding parameters and material/surface preparation methods in partnership with engineering.
•Qualify prototype and production processes using experiments, coupon testing, bond-line metallography, dimensional verification, proof/burst testing, and helium leak testing.
•Create and maintain nuclear-grade travelers, work instructions, routings, process specifications, and manufacturing data packages with traceability.
•Drive process control (process control plans, capability studies/Cpk, SPC monitoring) and lead 8D/5-Why/fishbone corrective actions to improve yield and reduce nonconformances.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
•5+ years of hands-on manufacturing/process engineering in precision metal fabrication, heat exchangers, brazing/bonding, or pressure-boundary components.
•Deep working knowledge of metal joining processes (diffusion bonding, brazing, or welding) and associated metallurgy.
•Strong documentation ownership (travelers, work instructions, and process specifications) with GD&T, engineering drawings, and dimensional inspection experience.
•Experience qualifying production processes through First Article Inspection and production ramp, including process qualification/validation (coupon testing, metallography, pressure/leak testing).
