Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead architecture decisions and optical trade studies for novel near-to-eye display subsystems against mission requirements.
  • •Own the optical system lifecycle, including integration, alignment, testing, and verification/validation of as-built hardware.
  • •Define optical performance requirements and flow them down into component and subassembly specifications within mechanical, electrical, thermal, and industrial design limits.
  • •Build and defend the optical error budget, allocating tolerance across components, assembly processes, and alignment operations.
  • •Correlate model and measured hardware performance, analyze prototype/production errors, and partner with optical process engineering to close the loop between design intent and production capability.

Key Requirements

  • •BS in Engineering with a concentration in Optics.
  • •Experience designing and analyzing complex optical systems, including optical system design, analysis, alignment, and test.
  • •Proven ownership across the systems-engineering lifecycle from architecture through verification and validation of delivered hardware.
  • •Expertise with optical design and analysis software including Zemax or CODE V.
  • •Ability to travel internationally on a regular cadence.
