Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead GoFundMe’s second line of defense by establishing global risk frameworks and translating complex laws into actionable compliance policies while overseeing and partnering with the first line.
  • •Design, build, and continuously mature global Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and FinCrime compliance frameworks, including AML/ATF program obligations across in-scope jurisdictions.
  • •Own transaction monitoring program governance and the SAR/STR filing process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, escalation, and external deadline adherence.
  • •Maintain and enhance risk-based KYC/KYB, due diligence, and monitoring standards for crowdfunding platform activity, including oversight of third-party dependencies and regulatory exam support.
  • •Serve as primary point of contact for regulators and law enforcement, and lead compliance training, preparedness activities (scenario planning/tabletop exercises), and examination-readiness processes.

Key Requirements

  • •12-15 years of compliance experience, with significant time in payments, fintech, financial services, or a highly regulated technology company, including owning or managing a regulated AML program.
  • •Deep subject-matter expertise in AML, BSA/ATF, and FinCrime across multiple jurisdictions, including hands-on experience with FINTRAC and TRACFIN, and SAR/STR reporting obligations.
  • •Strong working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF requirements under PCMLTFA, PCMLTFR, and FINTRAC guidance, including the compliance program, registration, KYC/KYB, record keeping, reporting, and risk assessment.
  • •Experience operating a FinCrime program across multiple regulatory regimes and adapting controls as GoFundMe scales globally.
  • •Senior-level experience serving as a named compliance officer (CAMLO, BSA Officer, or equivalent) with regulatory accountability.
