Job Summary

Collaborate with design, construction, operations, and maintenance teams to plan and justify electric subtransmission and distribution system projects. Develop conceptual designs, forecasts, and power-flow/reliability studies, and use PSSE (and other tools) with modeling techniques to assess system adequacy and DER hosting capacity. Support economic analyses including non-wire alternatives, prepare engineering planning criteria and reports, assist contingency responses, and participate in storm restoration call-outs.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop conceptual designs for new facilities, coordinate with other workgroups, and issue engineering documents to start design and construction.
•Prepare load and DER forecasts and perform power flow and reliability studies for electric subtransmission system planning.
•Develop and maintain expertise in power systems analysis using PSSE and other tools; perform special studies and support research needs.
•Assess subtransmission system adequacy using computer modeling and engineering expertise to determine configuration, DER hosting capacity, and timing of changes.
•Support economic analyses, develop operating information for contingencies, provide technical support to operating groups, and participate in emergency storm restoration call-out.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power.
•Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or P.E. registration preferred.
•Experience in power system analysis or related fields preferred.
•Experience with PSSE and/or PSCAD preferred.
•Working knowledge of personal computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio, plus strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and human relations skills.
