Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • •Produce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for grid and primary substations.
  • •Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and deliver electrical designs for substation upgrades and new substations (11kV–132kV).
  • •Produce design feasibility reports, cost estimates, layouts, GA’s, and plant specifications including transformers, switchgear, and battery systems.
  • •Review supplier and client designs for technical compliance with legislation, policies, and contract requirements.
  • •Act as CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed HV/EHV projects and identify/manage health and safety risks, attending site meetings as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum qualification: HNC in Electrical Engineering.
  • •Proven HV and EHV substation design experience (AIS and GIS) from 11kV up to and including 132kV.
  • •Exposure to substation cable design and protection/control.
  • •Experience with small, medium, and technically complex new substation, retrofit, or network reinforcement projects.
  • •Knowledge of engineering standards and technical policies for HV/EHV plant and substations (including earthing and electrical clearances).
