Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop optimal pricing strategies that meet short- and long-term business objectives, aligned to CarMax’s non-commodity, no-haggle pricing model.
  • •Lead the development of pricing models and AI that autonomously price every vehicle optimally and deliver results to field associates in seconds.
  • •Build, lead, and develop a highly engaged team of 4–7 data scientists; set goals, coach performance, and foster analytic growth.
  • •Implement new models in partnership with IT and field teams, and continuously tune strategies to changing market conditions.
  • •Design, execute, and communicate experiments to measure business impact of pricing changes; manage production issues across pricing systems.

Key Requirements

  • •Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Math, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering), with exceptional academic performance.
  • •Advanced degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) in a relevant field is a plus.
  • •4+ years of experience in strategy, analytics and/or data science, with proven ability to deliver business value using deep analytic skills.
  • •Mathematical and modeling skills to build complex pricing models, and programming skills to turn models into AI systems.
  • •Leadership experience managing highly analytical people and projects, with strong communication to run and align cross-functional work.
