Job Summary

Define and align the architectural vision for an org-wide data platform as the most senior individual contributor on the Data Platform Engineering team. Own long-term architecture across ingestion, orchestration, event streaming (Kafka → Flink → BigQuery), lower environments, standards, production readiness, data quality/observability, governance of tooling, cost control, and incident response—while mentoring senior engineers and partnering across engineering, data science, legal/compliance, and DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

•Own long-term data platform architecture across ingestion, orchestration, event streaming, and platform infrastructure, including CDC-based streaming (Kafka → Flink → BigQuery) and lower environment strategy.
•Chair Architecture Review Committee decisions and serve as primary technical DRI for cross-team, multi-system, and cost-impacting changes.
•Establish and enforce engineering standards and production readiness criteria (testing, CI/CD patterns, observability-as-code, logging standards, data contracts, Schema Registry governance).
•Own data quality and observability architecture (dbt anomaly detection, schema validation, data drift alerting) and define self-service analytics strategy and guardrails.
•Lead incident response for platform-level P1/P2 incidents and mentor/elevate Staff and Senior Data Engineers through design/code reviews and hands-on pairing.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 220,000 - 260,000 annually

•Hands-on modern data stack governance at scale including dbt, Airflow/Astronomer, Kafka/Confluent, Databricks/Spark, Fivetran, and data sharing/activation (Hightouch or equivalent).
•Infrastructure-as-code fluency (Terraform or equivalent) and strong Python and SQL skills for production-grade pipeline code.
