Job Summary

Provide short- to medium-term geotechnical and geological support for the Capcoal Mine operations, working with the Technical Services team. Monitor and collect data using slope stability radar (SSR), identify and manage geotechnical hazards, and validate mapping/logging inputs. Build fit-for-purpose short-term geological and geotechnical models, support mine planning and drill-and-blast decisions, help minimise coal loss/contamination, and drive continuous improvement through reconciliation analysis.

Key Responsibilities

•Monitor and collect geotechnical/geological data using slope stability radar (SSR).
•Identify and manage geological and geotechnical hazards impacting mining operations.
•Conduct mapping, logging, and data validation to ensure data quality and reliability.
•Develop fit-for-purpose short-term geological and geotechnical models for planning and execution.
•Support mine planning, drill and blast design, daily operational decisions, and assist coal mining as required (including minimising coal loss/contamination and reconciliation analysis).

Key Requirements

•Tertiary qualifications in Geological Sciences, civil engineering, or mining engineering.
•At least three years’ experience in operational mining, preferably open-cut coal mining.
•Experience using and monitoring slope stability radar (SSR) is highly regarded.
•Knowledge of geotechnical hazards and relevant mitigation strategies.
•Strong analysis, problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication/stakeholder management skills.
