Key Responsibilities

  • •Research, design, and prototype new ML models for Zillow’s consumer products (search, ranking, recommendations, notifications).
  • •Lead the full model lifecycle from ideation and offline experimentation to online deployment, A/B testing, and performance monitoring.
  • •Develop and test novel modeling approaches, including deep learning architectures and large language models (LLMs).
  • •Apply AI techniques such as LLM-based retrieval and RAG-style systems to improve conversational property search experiences.
  • •Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to define, execute, and iterate on impactful projects.

Key Requirements

  • •PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent industry experience (typically 3-4+ years with a Master’s, or 1+ year with a PhD).
  • •Proficient in Python and familiar with ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, CatBoost, scikit-learn, Hugging Face)
  • •Experience designing, training, and analyzing ML models to solve real-world problems.
  • •Demonstrated experience in search/information retrieval, personalized ranking/recommender systems, or generative AI/LLM-based systems.
  • •Experience with distributed data systems and working near production systems
