Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical assistance and guidance for planning, design, and construction support of utility transmission and distribution substations.
  • •Support substation physical design and/or protection and control (P&C) deliverables including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • •Apply IEEE, NESC, and client/utility standards throughout the design process and ensure deliverables meet applicable codes and safety requirements.
  • •Develop substation layouts and arrangements and support grounding grid and lightning protection design; perform equipment sizing and electrical calculations.
  • •Conduct site walkdowns and field verification as needed, providing technical support for design questions, construction issues, and field clarifications (RFIs).

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience supporting utility transmission and distribution substation design.
  • •Experience with substation physical design and/or protection and control (P&C) deliverables such as general arrangement drawings, one-line/three-line diagrams, grounding and lightning protection, schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, and bill of materials.
  • •Working knowledge of electrical engineering principles and how they apply to substation design.
  • •Working knowledge of utility standards and applicable codes used for substation design (e.g., IEEE and NESC, plus client standards).
