Key Responsibilities

  • •Own traffic flow from edge to DNS and private connectivity, ensuring requests are fast, reliable, and secure by default.
  • •Build and scale private connectivity across services, accounts, and clusters while keeping it secure as topology grows.
  • •Extend and tune the service proxy/mesh layer for real traffic patterns, moving beyond off-the-shelf configurations when needed.
  • •Automate name resolution, TLS, and internal access so dependent engineers don’t need to manage the layer manually.
  • •Instrument every layer of a request and build failure-mode tooling that makes safe network changes easy and risky ones hard.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • •7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably running the network behind high-traffic applications.
  • •Hands-on experience (3+ years) with Istio and Envoy, including tuning for multiple use cases.
  • •Deep knowledge of Kubernetes networking (CNI, pod/service networking, ingress, and traffic movement across/between clusters).
  • •Experience operating a CDN at scale (preferably Cloudflare) and designing cloud networking in AWS (e.g., VPC topology, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, peering, NAT).
