Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide direction and input to the development team as a plastics expert, including plastics assembly process development and transfer to high volume manufacturing.
  • •Perform manufacturing feasibility and apply design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • •Select materials and develop prototypes for plastic components.
  • •Source and lead external suppliers for plastic injection molding, tooling, assembly equipment, and materials.
  • •Work with internal and external manufacturing teams to develop robust manufacturing stations.
Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Plastics, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline with plastics experience.
  • •Understanding of plastic materials and rubbers, including medical grade materials.
  • •Practical experience with plastic molding (e.g., scientific injection molding, mold design, micro-molding, compression/transfer molding, LIM, blow molding, and thermoforming).
  • •Experience with component assembly from prototype to high volume manufacturing, including design of experiments and assembly fixture design plus assembly documentation (Ops, IQ/OQ/PQs, PFMEAs).
  • •Hands-on knowledge of plastics assembly methods such as ultrasonic welding, laser welding, and bonding techniques; medical device manufacturing requirements/testing preferred.
