Key Responsibilities

  • •Review and analyse evidence and disclosure, including obtaining, collating, indexing, cross-referencing, and summarising evidence for case progression.
  • •Draft statements, defence case statements, sentencing bundles, mitigation bundles, and written submissions following liaison with lay/corporate clients.
  • •Liaise with court, coroner’s office, CQC/Police/Local Authority, and experts (including instructing, summarising, and serving expert reports).
  • •Prepare and serve hearing bundles, chase transcripts and disclosure, and review medical records, postmortem reports, and CCTV footage.
  • •Organise and attend conferences/meetings/interviews under cautions and represent behind Counsel for trials and inquests, drafting notes and outcomes in line with the lead lawyer’s strategy.

Key Requirements

  • •A qualified Solicitor or at least 2 years’ regulatory, mental health hospital, or care/nursing home inquest experience.
  • •Ability to prioritise workload and pay attention to detail.
  • •Experience working with case management systems.
  • •Strong literacy and IT skills, with good telephone and communication skills at all levels.
  • •Ability to work effectively and remain calm under pressure, while ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct.
