Job Summary

Assist the Buildings Engineering team with the planning, design, monitoring, and inspection of mechanical systems for projects across sectors including data centres and defence. Support HVAC demand management, energy-efficient cooling solutions, and evaluation of system reliability and compliance. Help develop proposals and technical findings, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated cooling infrastructure for campus-scale developments, and contribute to mechanical design basis assumptions for HPC and AI workloads.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist in managing and designing heating, cooling, and ventilation demands and energy-efficient HVAC systems.
•Support evaluation and inspection of HVAC systems to ensure performance and compliance, including redundancy and reliability considerations.
•Develop proposals, progress reports, and technical findings for clients and stakeholders, including data centre cooling strategy inputs.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated design of data halls, plantrooms, cooling infrastructure, and utility distribution.
•Support mechanical design basis assumptions and evaluate cooling approaches (air-cooled, chilled water, hybrid, liquid) for efficiency and scalability.

Key Requirements

•Must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
•Able to work full-time hours from mid-November 2026 to mid-February 2027.
•Candidates must hold Australian citizenship and be eligible to obtain the required Defence Security Clearance for this role.
•Interns should be curious and apply their studies in a professional environment.
•Strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, and a proactive, professional attitude.
