Job Summary

Develop and deliver grid connection services for utility-scale renewable energy projects across the UK and Ireland. Conduct power system and grid-code compliance studies and due diligence (grid prospecting, connection optioneering, risk and capacity assessment), supported by tools like PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/E. Collaborate on interdisciplinary reviews, prepare technical specifications, support estimates and bid/proposal work, and liaise with OEMs and clients to drive technical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

•Support electrical design delivery through power system studies.
•Undertake grid-code compliance studies using tools such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, and PSS/E.
•Perform grid connection due diligence including prospecting, connection optioneering, risk assessment, and capacity/constraints assessment.
•Develop construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
•Provide input to technical specification sections, quality control reviews, engineering budget/schedule, and bids/proposals.

Key Requirements

•Proven relevant experience in an engineering design consultancy, OEM, or utility network planning and connections context.
•Strong understanding of transmission and distribution planning and customer connection processes for regulated and industrial networks.
•Knowledge of UK technical requirements including the UK Grid Code and related guidelines for connecting generators and loads (Ireland Grid Code knowledge is beneficial).
•Proficiency with PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Python scripting (prior PSSE and ETAP experience is desirable).
•Demonstrated understanding of high-voltage control and protection principles, plus basic power electronics and renewable-related control systems.
