Job Summary

Lead Substation Project Engineer in San Diego, supporting design and construction of transmission and distribution substations within the Power Delivery Substation Team. You’ll mentor junior staff, oversee complex projects, coordinate multi-discipline design, ensure code compliance, and drive improvements in protection, control, and efficiency for utility-scale infrastructure in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Hybrid or in-office setup preferred, remote work considered for experienced candidates.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design and construction management of electrical infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and new design, coordinating with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
•Oversee cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and construction professionals to execute project work, manage budgets, track hours and expenses, and ensure QA/QC.
•Review electrical calculations, layouts, and one-line diagrams, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
•Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and project status to clients and stakeholders.
•Maintain high quality and responsiveness to client requirements and adhere to safety practices and company standards.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
•7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
•Engineer license required.
•Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
•Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design.
