Job Summary

Design, engineer, and study protection systems for the bulk power system, supporting substations, transmission lines, generators, renewables, industrial, and distribution assets. Work with the Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team on protective relaying, electrical model development, coordination analyses, and NERC compliance. Lead client projects by managing scope, schedule, and budget while providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, engineer, and study protection systems for bulk power system equipment.
•Develop and apply protective relaying concepts including protection philosophy development, relay settings, and SCADA integration.
•Perform protection analyses such as electrical model development, short circuit, time-current coordination, arc flash, NERC compliance, and event analysis.
•Lead teams on client projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
•Support infrequent onsite data acquisition visits and discuss project specifics with clients at an appropriate technical level.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
•7 to 10 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer on protective relaying deliverables for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
•Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
•Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
•Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to follow health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
